- Tactic: If you know you’ve got stakeholders who like to be kept informed, or need to see things, or they really like A Pretty, then you need a stakeholder comms strategy. Have a back up plan ready to deploy the minute you see signs of this. Assuming you’ve mapped your stakeholders previously and can recognise this stakeholder persona, get a series of interim deliverables ready. If necessary, have a person whose job is to document everything happening on the project and present to stakeholders at short notice.
- Secondarily, remind everyone of the Exciting Ambition of being user-centric and credible as a delivery team. If people have bought in to a vision of brilliance, sometimes simply reminding them that they are plummeting towards mediocrity is enough to bring the project back on track.
